Certus Canada Inc. was founded by Russell Stuart. Born in Rhodesia and raised in South Africa, Russell graduated as an Agronomist specializing in sub-tropical fruit and citrus farming.

He managed the production of several farms in South Africa including citrus, poultry and bananas before moving to the island of Guernsey to focus on the growth and sales of fresh herbs.

After moving to Canada, Russell dedicated his time to achieving his Marine Surveyor designation, becoming a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, completing HACCP training and developing his knowledge of fresh produce to also include stone fruit, legumes, seeds, root vegetables, berries and more.

In 2012 Russell recognized that there was a demand in Canada for a rapid and expert inspection service in the fresh produce industry. This service was specifically needed for importers who require an unbiased third party assessment and report.

Founded as Certus Inspections, now Certus Canada Inc., Certus quickly established itself as the industry leader in insurance surveys, fresh produce quality reports and as an expert witness on behalf of their clients.

Now providing services to clients from five continents, attention to detail and a focus on data analysis continues to be the differentiating factor for Certus Canada Inc. in the field of quality inspections for food. This dedication to excellence will continue to be a guiding principle in every service Certus provides to its clients.
